I've never been into a wedding before, I swear. People never invited me! Still, I know there's some doubts about what to wear in a wedding and I worked on that. It's important to respect the wedding's dresscode (if it has one) and there's nothing wrong to ask opinions to the bride, so that all the attentions are on her and not in the guest!
It's a formal ocasion, so it's important you look elegant and sophisticated. The secret to pick a dress is to choose light fabrics and delicate colors, and you can choose something with lace or transparent. I wouldn't go the sequins and very edgy things, only if it's a night wedding. Don't be afraid of including a hat on your oufit, since it's very probable of you being exposed to the sun (the floppy hat it's great!). While the acessories and bags, if you have a clutch then use it, it's a perfect ocasion for it and try to go on with the vintage bijoux (necklaces, rings, etc.)
